TUTORING

WITH A TWIST

Are you a parent, teacher or pastoral lead concerned about a child's progress?

Do they need support with their English work?

Are you concerned about their wellbeing, their levels of anxiety and their self esteem?

Are these issues impacting all curriculum areas?

Do they need help building their resilience and levels of independence so that they can thrive in school?

Hi, we're Claire and Rachael.

Together, we are Dragonfly: Impact Education. We champion the belief that emotional wellbeing is just as important as physical health.

Our mission is to help children and young people fulfil their potential.

We know how importance resilience is to success, and how the ‘get up and go’ needed for modern life can’t be given – it comes from within and can therefore only be encouraged and nurtured by others.

Advanced Skills Teachers in English, with over 35 years’ combined experience, we offer English tuition with a difference. We also ensure that we provide the tools with which children and young people can build their resilience and we help them to nurture the intrinsic motivation so important to both their wellbeing and success.

Whilst our work is largely with schools and education staff, we have a limited amount of tuition slots available. We ask for a 6-week commitment, so if we are currently fully booked please check again at a later date to see if any slots have become available.

All sessions will take place via zoom and resources will be emailed.

TUTORING WITH A TWIST

Courage. Compassion. Belief.

Claire and Rachael have been teaching for a combined 35+ years and remain teaching two days a week. They founded Dragonfly: Impact Education two years ago to address the barriers to learning that they saw were too often preventing young people from reaching their full potential.

Their mission is to support schools in creating cultures where mental health and wellbeing are nurtured and supported in the same way as academic progress, so that pupils leave education fully equipped to deal with modern life and all its challenges. However, for this to be possible, children and young people need to be given the tools to build a foundation from which they can thrive. This is integral to the mental health, wellbeing, growth, progress and ultimate success of the next generation.

To support them in their mission, they bring a wealth of expertise and qualifications, including AST status, a Master's degree in Education: Leadership and Management, a diploma in school counselling, a diploma in creative therapy, and a diploma in personal development coaching - all recognised by distinction - and they are qualified instructors for First Aid for Mental Health and Level 3 Safeguarding.

  • Sessions are available for pupils from Year 3 - Year 13.

  • We also have young adult coaching available, for those transitioning into the world of higher education or work.

  • We will always begin with a 30 minute consultation and design your bespoke package around your individual needs.

What others say...

"As a Teaching Assistant, I worked with both Rachael Bushby and Claire Pass for several years, and I can honestly say that it was always a pleasure. Not just because they are both professional and organised teachers, who plan every lesson with the needs of each individual student in mind, but because of the wonderful, positive atmosphere in the classroom. Rachael and Claire radiate positivity - they approach the most challenging behaviour in the classroom with genuine care and acceptance. I've seen them turn around students who have a reputation of being appallingly difficult, by helping them to realise their potential through patience, persistence and encouragement. I've seen the most reluctant teenagers looking forward to having a lesson with either of them. Rachael and Claire can change 'I can't' or 'I won't' into 'I can' and 'I will'."
"Claire and Rachael both taught me post-16 as I retook my GCSE English. They made me realise that I had so much potential and I was capable of passing English. In the end, I not only passed but went from my original grade of a D to an A grade and this was within a year. They showed us that they genuinely cared for our education and made re-taking English as enjoyable as they could! Having members of staff who genuinely cared for our health and well-being as well as our education made all the challenges of school a lot easier and I cannot thank them enough."
